Discovery Place toddler program is a Relationship Based System. The child is at the center of a dynamic system of relationships– family, caregivers, and child. Each participant connects with the others and each builds a relationship with the others. It is more than taking care of each other. It means caring about the other, and, in turn, feeling cared for. This triangle of relationships has three key features:

• Each trusts that he or she will learn from the others

 

Toddlers are active meaning makers! Their sensory systems are wired to investigate and construct knowledge of their world. Toddlers learn best in a supportive, responsive, relationship-based environment filled with novel, information-rich materials and experiences. Discovery Place classrooms are designed to instill a sense of well-being and emotional security giving children the support they need to learn through exploration of materials and relationships.
